Silkworm “Koishimaru” becomes a cocoon

It’s been 36 days since I received the 1st and 2nd instar larvae of the silkworms “Koishimaru” and “Tamakoishi”.

Finally, the two became cocoons.

The number of days it takes for silkworms to develop varies depending on the lineage, but this larva was much slower to cocoon than other people who were raising it.

Silkworm larvae usually turn into cocoons on the 25th day after hatching, so it took even longer than that. There are still larvae, but I’m relieved that two of them have successfully cocooned.

The larva inside is no longer visible after about a day and a half after the thread begins to be spewed out. The cocoon is completed in two to three days.
